Who Will Be the Next James Bond?
The next actor to play James Bond is still up in the air. For over 15 years, Daniel Craig played 007, starring in the role for a final time in 2021 with No Time to Die. Now, it's time for a new Bond, and there's a lot of uncertainty about who will take on the role for the next film and into the future.
Legendary filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will direct the next James Bond film. As Villeneuve celebrates the release of Dune 3, the final film in his Dune trilogy, this winter, he's promise to begin work on the upcoming Bond film around the turn of the new year. That means pre-production on the new Bond film will begin in early 2027, making the decision about the next Bond actor likely to occur in late 2026.
Villeneuve won't make this decision on his own, however. Amazon took over full ownership of the Bond franchise in 2025 and will have significant oversight into the decision. Villeneuve has hinted that he's looking for a British Bond actor in his 20s with relatively little celebrity; we'll see if Amazon is on board with such a decision.
So, which actor will be the next James Bond? You can use Kalshi to trade on your prediction and win money if you're correct — here are the latest odds on Kalshi for the actor who will be the next James Bond:
Callum Turner is the clear odds-on favorite to be the next James Bond right now, according to Kalshi. Turner may not be the unknown actor that Villeneuve may be seeking, and he's more than five years past his 20s, but there are also plenty of factors that make him the current favorite: He's an ascending celebrity who fits all the attributes of a James Bond, and with his marriage to pop star Dua Lipa coinciding with his star turn in One Night Only (following his incredible work in the indie film Rose of Nevada), Turner is definitely a good option. But is he really who Villeneuve and Amazon are seeking?
Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Josh O'Connor are second and third on the oddsboard, respectively. While Taylor-Johnson may be among the best-suited actors for the role from an action standpoint, O'Connor is hard to ignore as a British actor who checks all the boxes in terms of the looks and personality of the role.
Our Take: The Next James Bond
In all honestly, there isn't much information to go off of when attempting to predict which actor will become the next James Bond. But while finding a British actor in his 20s that has the chops to play 007 may be a borderline fool's errand, finding a relatively unknown actor is far less difficult. That's why we wouldn't place our bets on stars like Turner, O'Connor, Jacob Elordi or Harris Dickinson to take the role.
The one exception to this strategy: Tom Holland. The Spiderman star also starred in The Odyssey this summer and has been vocal about his love for Bond and desire to play the role.
Otherwise, we think it might be a smart bet to pick a few under-the-radar actors who might fit Villeneuve and Amazon's casting wishes. There have reportedly been auditions for the role already, albeit under wraps, and Tom Francis is one actor whom we know has auditioned to be the next Bond — that's reason enough to back Francis to win the role.
