Ranking the Best DFS Apps & Pick'em Sites

When sports betting became legalized in the US, it didn't just create an onslaught of new sports betting apps; it also created a market for sports fans who don't live in states where sports betting wasn't yet legal, and it created a demand for sports betting alternatives and free-to-play sports prediction games.

This came to a head with the popularity of season-long fantasy sports, previously the most popular format in the US for wagering money on sports predictions. Companies like DraftKings and FanDuel created daily fantasy sports (DFS) platforms in the early 2010s that gradually evolved from setting daily rosters to creating a betslip of multiple over/under player prop predictions.

That evolution spawned a third type of making sports picks: pick'em games.

In this review, we'll explain the difference between DFS apps and pick'em sites and show you how they compare to traditional sportsbooks. We'll also rank the best DFS and pick'em platforms so you can take advantage of the best platform for you. Read on for our rankings of the best DFS apps and pick'em sites!

The top DFS and pickem apps available

What Are DFS and Pick'ems?

New to the world of daily fantasy and pick'ems? Rest easy — in this review of the best DFS apps and pick'em sites available in the US, we'll start with a quick overview of the differences and similarities of DFS and pick'em apps.

When daily fantasy sites like FanDuel and DraftKings were founded in the early 2010s, they served as a way for traditional fantasy sports players to play their favorite game without being stuck with the same lineup every day. The idea was simple: Build your roster every day based on your predictions for each player, and rack up as many points as possible based on their performance.

An introduction to the Prize Picks app

PrizePicks is one of the leading DFS apps in the US

Since then, however, things have changed. Especially with the legalization of sports betting across many US states earlier this decade, traditional daily fantasy took a back seat to sportsbooks that let users make similar picks and win real money if their picks hit. FanDuel and DraftKings still offer traditional DFS, but their sportsbooks have far overtaken their DFS platforms in terms of popularity.

So, in what form is DFS still prevalent online?

Aside from traditional DFS platforms, pick'ems rose in popularity dramatically in the 2020s. Pick'ems are similar to DFS and often referred to as DFS because they allow users to make daily sports picks. However, instead of building a roster of players who all play in the same sports and league, pick'ems allow — and sometimes, require — users to choose athletes from multiple sports on a given day.

Pick'ems also require users to stack at least two picks, sometimes more. Because of that, pick'ems can be compared to building a player prop parlay at a traditional sportsbook. They remain similar to DFS because they're both based on a "pick players, win money" model, but they're still quite different in practice.

DFS vs. Pick'em: What's the Difference?

People often confuse DFS and pick’em because both center on real player stats and are offered side by side in popular apps like Underdog Fantasy or Sleeper Picks. Marketing teams use similar terms like “fantasy,” “player props,” and “picks,” making it easy for casual users to lump them together. Both formats also promise quick, daily payouts, reinforcing the idea that they’re the same game.

The core difference is easy to miss: DFS requires building a full roster under a salary cap and competing against others, while pick’em involves selecting over/under props in parlay-style bets against the house.

Traditional DFS on Draft Kings vs Underdog pickem

Traditional DFS on DraftKings vs. Underdog pick'em

Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS):

  • Build a full roster of players under a salary cap.

  • Score points based on real-life player stats (yards, goals, rebounds, etc.).

  • Compete against many users in contests (head-to-head, 50/50, tournaments).

  • Win tiered cash prizes from large prize pools.

Pick’em:

  • Choose over/under or other props on individual player stats.

  • Usually parlay-style entries (2–5 picks needed to win).

  • Compete against the house, not other users.

  • Fixed payout multipliers if all picks hit.

Best DFS Apps & Sites

Now that we've established the key differences between DFS and pick'em apps, let's take a look at the best platforms in each category, starting with the best daily fantasy platforms on the market today.

One key difference we haven't yet mentioned about DFS apps and pick'em sites: While there are dozens of pick'em platforms available for users that we'll recommend, there are only a few DFS apps that we think sports fans should explore.

Best DFS Apps

DraftKings Fantasy Sports

Get a $3 DFS Contest Ticket When You Sign Up and Deposit $5 or More

One of the OG DFS platforms on the market, DraftKings Fantasy Sports offers users the chance to draft lineups and compete in daily contests across a wide range of sports. Players can win real cash prizes by building teams under a salary cap and outperforming other players in the pool. DraftKings DFS is best known for massive prize pools and industry-leading variety of DFS contests.

FanDuel Fantasy

Get a $5 Bonus When you make your first deposit

FanDuel Fantasy is a top-tier DFS app offering daily and weekly fantasy contests across major sports like NFL, NBA, MLB, and more. Like DraftKings, FanDuel allows users to draft teams within a salary cap and compete for real money prizes. FanDuel is known for its user-friendly interface, frequent promotions, and a wide range of contest types for all skill levels.

Yahoo Daily Fantasy

Get $10 in Site Credits After your first deposit

Yahoo Daily Fantasy Sports offers an easy-to-use interface, low entry fees, and solid contests across major sports. It’s a great option for beginners and budget-conscious players; however, Yahoo’s prize pools and contest variety are more limited compared to DFS giants like DraftKings and FanDuel, which offer broader options, higher stakes, and more advanced features for seasoned players.

Best Pick'em Sites & Apps

If you're looking for a fantasy platform or sports betting app that allows you to stack stat projections into a betting slip like a player prop parlay, pick'em sites are right up your alley. Modest players will combine 2-4 stat projections for the potential to win cash prizes, while high rollers can stack picks in the double-digits for enormous multipliers and the chance to earn big returns.

Because pick'em sites serve as one of the best alternatives to sportsbooks in states where sports betting hasn't yet been legalized, there are plenty of solid options with high-quality gameplay and highly-rated mobile apps. Here are our top pick'em sites on the market today:

DFS & Pick'em Apps: How to Get Started

Ready to get started with a new DFS app or pick'em site? The sign-up process is quick and easy on most DFS and pick'em apps — a welcome departure from traditional sportsbooks that require users to input a lot of information to stay compliant with federal and state gambling laws.

Here's an overview of how you can get started on a DFS app or pick'em site:

  1. Find a green button on this page. Each green button links to the corresponding DFS or pick'em platform and allows you to claim a welcome offer if one is available.
  2. Create your account. Register with the DFS or pick'em app by submitting the information they request, which usually includes your email address along with a username and password of your choice. Some apps will ask for verification on your mobile phone.
  3. Claim your welcome offer. Almost every DFS app and pick'em site has some kind of sign-up bonus for new users; you may need to make a purchase to redeem the offer.
  4. Make your picks! Once you've signed up and either purchased coins or made a deposit into your account, use the funds in your account to place a wager and potentially win cash prizes. If your picks hit, you'll have the option to either withdraw funds or cash in coins for cash prizes.

Promotions and Rewards on DFS and Pick'ems

If you're looking to get started with a DFS or pick'em app, one of the best things you can do to set yourself up for success is to find out which DFS or pick'em has the best promotional offers. It's tough to predict what's going to happen in any given sports matchup, so it's not easy to win every pick'em or prize pool you enter — that's why promotions are key to any sports betting experience: they help level the playing field.

Promotions and rewards on DFS apps and pick'em sites also should go beyond a traditional welcome offer or referral bonus. If you're using a solid pick'em app, you should have plenty of promotions available for bet insurance or boosting odds.

Types of Promotions & Rewards

Here are a handful of promotions and rewards typically offered:

  • Bet boosts: Boost the odds of your pick, typically from 15% all the way to 100%
  • Friend referrals: Get bonuses for referring friends after they make a deposit
  • No-sweat bets: Stack your picks and make a wager; if you lose, get your losses back in bonus bets
  • Daily sign-on bonuses: Receive a nominal bonus each day when you log in
  • Themed promos: Get boosts or insurance for tentpole events or weekly themes

So, all things considered, which DFS app or pick'em site has the best promotions and rewards?

If you ask us, PrizePicks is the leader in the clubhouse when it comes to promotions and rewards. They offer "Taco Tuesday" and "Flex Friday" promos each week, offering bonuses and/or refunds for users who claim the offer. They have a generous welcome offer, feature regular odds boosts and even offer loyalty bonuses for regular users.

Promos available on the Prize Picks app

PrizePicks is among the best pick'ems for promotional offers

PrizePicks isn't the only pick'em with a solid suite of promotions and rewards, though. Underdog Fantasy features the most lucrative welcome offer depending on how much users deposit, and they regularly offer pick'em insurance that allows one or multiple entries on a betslip to lose without the user losing the entire bet. Boom Fantasy and Sleeper are honorable mentions as well, as both pick'em sites offer consistent promos, typically based around marquee sporting events.

Welcome Offers on DFS & Pick'ems

If you've watched any sporting event at any time over the past couple of years in the US, you've no doubt seen ads for sportsbooks that feature a tantalizing welcome offer. Some sportsbooks like FanDuel and DraftKings Sportsbooks ask users to place or win a bet in order to earn bonus bets; other sportsbooks like BetMGM offer a deposit match with a cap on the maximum bonus.

Just like those sportsbooks, DFS apps and pick'em sites typically offer a sign-up bonus as well. But as we'll note several times throughout these rankings of the best DFS and pick'em apps, traditional sportsbooks are run by much larger companies than pick'ems, so the welcome offers aren't always as lucrative.

Let's start this overview of the promotions available on DFS and pick'ems with a look at the welcome bonuses currently on offer from our top pick'em sites.

*DraftKings Pick6 users can earn a welcome offer from DraftKings if they haven't already redeemed it from sportsbook or fantasy, but there isn't currently a welcome offer exclusive to Pick6

Daily fantasy apps, on the other hand, don't offer welcome bonuses with as much consistency as pick'em sites. FanDuel DFS doesn't currently offer a welcome bonus; because you can share a wallet with FanDuel Sportsbook, you're eligible for their current welcome offer if you receive it through the sportsbook, but there isn't a DFS-specific welcome offer available at this time.

Yahoo Daily Fantasy has a simple offer of $10 in site credits when you make the minimum deposit, a welcome bonus that pales in comparison to traditional sportsbooks and even pick'em sites.

Draft Kings Fantasys generous welcome offer

DraftKings Fantasy features by far the best DFS welcome offer

This is one area where DraftKings DFS stands out from their key competitors. New users on the DraftKings DFS platform are eligible for up to $500 in DK Dollars; users will have their deposit matched in full from DraftKings with a $500 maximum reward. Compared to FanDuel and Yahoo's DFS platforms, this welcome offer is very generous.

Best Mobile Apps for DFS and Pick'ems

In the US right now, it's estimated by some studies that over 80% of sports bettors, pick'em users and DFS players use a mobile app as opposed to making their picks on desktop. That means that four out of five folks reading this are looking for a DFS or pick'em mobile app, and guess what — you've come to the right place.

In this section, we'll show you which DFS and pick'em platforms have the best mobile app experience for users. To get us started, let's take a look at what iOS and Android users think of each of our top pick'em apps:

If you ask users, it's evident that DraftKings Pick6, PrizePicks and Underdog Fantasy have the highest-rated mobile apps based on reviews. If you ask us? The numbers don't lie!

In our view, Underdog Fantasy has the best mobile app among pick'ems right now. Their 4.8 rating in the App Store and 4.6 rating on Google Play are evidence that users are happy with the experience, and the quality of the app and loading and processing speeds are the best in the game.

Making picks on the Underdog Fantasy app

Underdog Fantasy has one of the highest-rated apps both on iOS and Android

The Underdog Fantasy app reconfigures itself automatically based on the user's location so that they're only shown games that are available to them in their home state. And one of the best features of the Underdog Fantasy mobile app is that they send users push notifications with breaking sports news that may be relevant to current or upcoming picks.

If you want to stay up-to-date with the latest transactions while having a solid mobile app with plenty of positive features, Underdog Fantasy is probably the mobile app for you.

Underdog Fantasy App Reviews

✍️ App Store Reviews

Great app. Don’t expect your winnings quickly though — 4/5 ⭐️

Katkins0420, 04/08/2024

I’ve had Underdog since the app came out. Love the pick’em and have done very well as far as winnings. My ONE complaint about this app is the payouts. Like most apps, they have many ways to quickly and conveniently upload your funds to place a bet. Unlike most apps, underdog is a complete hassle when you win anything and try to withdraw it, which kind of takes the fun out of betting. You took my money in two seconds, but when I win I’m expected to wait? The app only allows you to withdraw though PayPal or check. Which is really inconvenient. App says payout in 2-3 days but if you win on a Friday you won’t see your money until the following Friday. I just feel there should be a better way to get me my money in 2024. Many other apps offer a better method, most even have an instant option. I’ve gone to other apps just because I know lll get my money faster. I hope underdog fixes this.

It's a good app — 3/5 ⭐️

Felipev04, 12/18/2023

I like the app overall. Gives a discount almost every day. This app also gives up to a 6x multiplier for a 3 pick parlay compared to other apps which are usually 5x or less. The only problem is the costumer service. My girlfriend’s account got restricted because we use my phone for both of our accounts. We were not aware that this was prohibited. It states that you can’t be “multi-accounting” which it doesn’t really explain what it is. But I’m guessing it means that we can’t have multiple accounts on one device which it doesn’t specifically say that. My girlfriend and I would just log in to our accounts on one device and out of no where she got restricted on her account. So I’m just assuming multi accounting means you can’t share accounts on one device. She had to email them that she understand what she did wrong and that she won’t do it anymore which she did. Anyways she has been waiting for almost a week for a reply. She emailed them about 3 times and still no response. Every other app we use, we get a reply within a day.

This app gets worse with each update. Ever since pick'ems became their focus, the best ball/draft experience has suffered, which is only what I'm interested in. Originals tab is confusing, I have no idea why they keep hiding drafts. Also, player's team names occasionally disappear which I first noticed when trying to draft NBA playoffs. I uninstalled and reinstalled, which worked for a short time until it broke again. Exposures have disappeared. Becoming unusable. 0 stars.

Aquil Salahudeen — 5/5 ⭐️

Love the various contest selections, especially for Best Ball, as Best Ball has become my passion and top game choice for fantasy football. Just getting into the Pick 'Ems on Underdog, a new way to enjoy action. Underdog is truly one of the top sites for daily and season-long fantasy sports!

However, as long as we're discussing the top mobile apps among pick'em platforms, we should note that PrizePicks is no slouch. While their Google Play rating leaves plenty to be desired, their 4.8 App Store score is impressive and reflects a terrific user experience with PrizePicks thanks to an intuitive layout, short load times and a great overall look.

While DraftKings Pick6 has ratings on par with Underdog and PrizePicks, their gameplay is much more limited. Because they offer fewer betting features than Underdog and PrizePicks, the positive ratings likely reflect that users haven't had many negative experiences, which should absolutely be the case on a mobile app that doesn't face the technical challenge of featuring several types of gameplay.

While there's no doubting that Underdog Fantasy and PrizePicks boast the best mobile apps among pick'ems, I found another strong mobile app that's coincidentally a bit of a sleeper in this space — it's the Sleeper Picks app, if you'll excuse the wordplay, and they've managed to create an app that rivals the best products available.

The Sleeper app is, in my opinion, the sleekest pick'em app with the most intuitive user interface. The functionality is just as good as Underdog and PrizePicks, and while the betting variety and promotions aren't quite on par with those platforms, the Sleeper mobile app is one of the best on the market. They also feature season-long fantasy football, so the Sleeper app can be your one-stop-shop for football picks, if you're so inclined.

Best Mobile DFS Apps

As you've seen throughout this review of the top DFS apps and pick'em sites, the only daily fantasy platforms that we recommend to users right now are DraftKings Fantasy, FanDuel Fantasy, and Yahoo Daily Fantasy Sports. Because of that, our pool from which to choose the best DFS apps on the market are not only slim, but difficult to differentiate between.

To help us determine which DFS app is the best on the market right now, let's look at the user ratings on the Apple App Store and Google Play:

Best DFS Apps
Apple App Store Rating
Google Play Rating

DraftKings Fantasy

4.9 ⭐️ (531k ratings)
4.7 ⭐️ (168k reviews)
FanDuel Fantasy
4.8 ⭐️ (197.2k ratings)
4.7 ⭐️ (91.5k reviews)

Yahoo Fantasy

4.8 ⭐️ (698.2k ratings)
4.0 ⭐️ (354k reviews)

As you can see from user reviews, all three of these DFS apps have solid ratings, with the exception of Yahoo's Android app. While users may argue that all three of these apps are high-quality, there's a distinction to be made here: Yahoo's DFS platform is a part of their larger fantasy platform that includes season-long fantasy for sports like NFL and NBA.

Because of that, it's our opinion that the best pure DFS apps are DraftKings and FanDuel, with Yahoo's app falling slightly behind because so many of its positive ratings are a result of their season-long fantasy, not DFS.

Draft Kings and Fan Duel DFS apps

DraftKings and FanDuel boast superior DFS apps

So, which DFS app is the best on the market in the US right now: DraftKings Fantasy, or FanDuel Fantasy? If you understand the history of DFS apps in the US over the past two decades, you know that DraftKings and FanDuel have gone punch-for-punch for years — they're doing the same thing now in the sportsbook space.

However, with slightly higher review scores, a larger user base, more contest types and a strong lineup optimizer, we'll give DraftKings Fantasy the honor as the best DFS app on the market right now. Still, plenty of users will argue for FanDuel's superiority — oftentimes for less-experienced users — and to choose one app as superior than the other is a bit of a nitpick conversation.

All things considered, you're in good hands downloading either the DraftKings Fantasy or FanDuel Fantasy apps, creating a count and playing daily fantasy sports.

Sports Available on DFS & Pick'ems

Whether you're looking to jump into a new DFS app or you want to play a pick'em game, you may be pleasantly surprised by the wide array of sports available for stacking your picks. DFS apps and pick'em sites often offer even more sports than traditional sportsbooks like BetMGM and Bet365 because there are fewer regulations on DFS and pick'em than there are on sports betting apps.

But at the end of the day, while several DFS and pick'em apps offer quite a few sports, there's one pick'em site that really stands out among the crowd.

Most Sports Available for Pick'em: PrizePicks

By our estimation, the pick'em site with the most sports available for making picks is PrizePicks. The PrizePicks app features every major US sport, college sports, international sports, esports, and even hot dog eating contests.

While it's difficult to know for certain exactly which sports are offered by any sportsbook, pick'em or DFS app, the array that has been available on PrizePicks over the past few years is unrivaled by any other pick'em platform.

Legal States for DFS & Pick'ems

One aspect of social sportsbooks that attracts players the most is their availability across the US. While traditional sportsbooks are now legal in most US states, social sportsbooks are legal in even more places. While you typically won't find social sportsbooks that operate in the state of Washington and states like Idaho and Nevada may restrict betting features on social sportsbooks, the best platforms are available in almost every state.

Most Widely Available Pick'em: PrizePicks

As far as sports betting apps are concerned — whether it's a traditional sportsbook, a pick'em app or DFS app — there's no more widely-available platform than PrizePicks. You can play DFS pick'em on PrizePicks in any US state except for Alabama, which is part of the reason PrizePicks is one of the most popular pick'em apps on the market.

Most Widely Available DFS: DraftKings & FanDuel

If you're located in the US, DFS apps are widely available in almost every US state. In fact, every US state has at least one real-money DFS platform available except for the following states:

  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • Washington

The most widely available DFS apps in the US are DraftKings DFS and FanDuel DFS — both apps are available in 44 states, and the states listed above comprise five of the six states in which neither app is available for use. The difference is that you can play DraftKings DFS in Connecticut but not Oregon, and you can play FanDuel DFS in Oregon, but not Connecticut.

If you're located in any other state in the US, download FanDuel or DraftKings DFS and enjoy!

Customer Service on DFS & Pick'ems

Much like you might have experienced on a traditional sports betting app, good customer support can be crucial to the overall user experience. While technical errors shouldn't happen and companies shouldn't let them slide, sometimes glitches and crashes can occur on DFS and pick'em apps, and when that happens, having a solid array of customer service options is essential for solving problems and ensuring the safety of you and your money.

So, which DFS apps and pick'em sites have the best customer service?

AI Chat Bots on Draft Kings and Fan Duel DFS

AI chat bots are helpful tools on DraftKings and FanDuel DFS

Because both DraftKings and FanDuel have DFS platforms in addition to their ever-growing sportsbooks, they both have adequate resources for supporting customers when they need help. Crucially, both apps feature a chat bot that begins with an AI engine and eventually includes a real person if users haven't yet had their issue resolved.

Both DraftKings and FanDuel's DFS platforms also feature customer support options like an FAQ and help center along with email and snail mail options. While Yahoo's DFS platform has multiple options for customer support, it doesn't include the convenience of a chat bot for resolving user issues.

Customer support on the Underdog Fantasy app

Underdog Fantasy offers an impressive suite of customer support options

When it comes to pick'em apps, customer support isn't always on the same level as companies like DraftKings and FanDuel because budgets are smaller for both technology and people who might be able to help users resolve an issue. So before you sign up with a new pick'em app, make sure they have your preferred method of getting help.

As is the case with traditional sports betting apps, the best customer support comes from platforms who offer the most options with a live chat included. Here are the other methods of customer support we consider when judging support options on pick'em sites:

  • Live Chat
  • Email Support
  • Help Center/FAQ
  • Social Media Support
  • Contact Form

Fortunately, there are three pick'em apps that feature all five of these options: DraftKings Pick6, PrizePicks and Underdog Fantasy. As a result, we think these are the best pick'em sites for users to ensure that they can resolve any issue that arises.

Here's an overview of which pick'em apps offer which customer support methods:

Live Chat
Email Support
Help Center/FAQ
Social Media Support
Contact Form
Betr
Boom Fantasy
Dabble
DraftKings Pick6
OwnersBox
PrizePicks

DFS & Pick'em FAQ

What's the best DFS app?

In our view, the best DFS apps on the market right now are DraftKings DFS and FanDuel DFS. Both apps have been around longer than a decade and have benefitted from massive resources devoted by their companies.

If pressed, we'd rank DraftKings DFS as the top overall DFS app slightly above FanDuel DFS. Why? Because they have a slight edge when it comes to contest variety and high-value prize pools. Both offer similar user experiences and some users believe FanDuel DFS is better for beginners, but overall, DraftKings DFS is a slightly better product.

What is the best pick'em site?

Here at Sportsbooks Online, we believe Underdog Fantasy offers the best pick’em game. Underdog boasts a sleek, intuitive app, high-payout multipliers, and generous promotions like deposit matches and pick’em insurance. Its wide variety of player props, consistent odds, and excellent customer support create a premium, trustworthy experience that stands out from competitors, making it the top choice for many pick’em players.

Another argument could be made for PrizePicks, our number two pick'em site in the US right now.
