Since arriving in the United States in 2019, Unibet has been trying to gain a foothold in the US market. Compared to other sportsbooks available in the States, Unibet has some advantages and disadvantages.

One of the most unique aspects of Unibet is the high degree of variance between their site and app for each state. The sportsbook is currently available in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Iowa, Virginia, and now Arizona.

Each state even has its own individual app! While the apps are pretty solid - nothing incredible, but very gets the job done - it's not very user-friendly to make users change apps just to bet in a different state.

Unlike many of their competitors, Unibet has unique sites for each state where it is available. This has benefits and drawbacks.

I'm from New Jersey, but went to college in Philadelphia, so I spent a lot of time hopping back and forth over state lines. While it may not seem like a huge deal, having to remember which app to use in which state and rearranging your phone's home screen to accommodate two apps from one sportsbook can be a bit of an inconvenience.

That being said, there are some benefits to Unibet's stratified approach. Unibet has gone out of its way to offer unique, dedicated support options for each state in which they are active. This makes the Swedes stand out from the competition and ensures Unibet's customer service is the best in the industry.

In the past, Unibet even had different user interfaces across state lines, but thankfully, this experiment has ended. Unibet settled on a traditional, spreadsheet-ish feel to their sportsbook. You're greeted to a carousel featuring promotions, casino (if available), and live betting opportunities across the top of your screen, with featured matchups easily available below.

It's not the flashiest design by any means, but I actually quite like it. While writing this review, I found Unibet supremely easy-to-navigate and that's more important to me than shiny bells and whistles.

Unibet offers users your standard wide variety of sports and events but fails to offer deep experiences for trendy betting types like bet builders for soccer or single game parlays for the NBA. However, if live betting is more your thing, Unibet has great functionality for that.

Additionally, New Jersey and Pennsylvania users are treated to online casino and poker options.

Where Unibet shines is how they treat their customers. In addition to the superior customer service options, Unibet also boasts a very strong welcome bonus and offer users regular promotions such as odds boosts and bonuses that often coincide with huge sporting events like March Madness or the Champions League.

While some areas can improve, Unibet is definitely going to be a major name as sports betting continues to grow here in the States.

Unique to the Unibet experience, there are different apps for each state where the online sportsbook is available. Meaning, that if you are a Unibet New Jersey user who crosses the Ben Franklin Bridge to spend a Sunday afternoon in Philly, you'll have to download the Unibet Pennsylvania app to be able to wager for the day.

I think this is a self-imposed detraction from an otherwise solid mobile sportsbook app.

Once you actually are able to sign on, the Unibet app, it's not bad at all. It's a bit basic in execution and lacking the shiny bells and whistles of FanDuel or DraftKings Sportsbook, but it is super-functional and easy to bet with.

In the future the addition of more mobile betting features, like PointsBet's quick parlay tab, and cleaning up some of the presentation elements would improve Unibet's mobile app to a very high standard. But for now, a just-okay mobile app is dragged down a bit by Unibet's decision to offer different apps in each state.

The limited functions of popular modern services such as Bet-Builders for soccer games or single game parlays for NBA match-ups is a big mark against Unibet at the moment. Single game parlays are set to a very strict amount of bets, usually just spread, moneyline, and over/under bets. Other sportsbooks, like FanDuel, allow users to combine individual player props, quarter and half spreads, and a litany of other bet types into their single game parlays.

These options spice things up for returning users and allow some creativity. The neglect of these features is a bit disappointing from Unibet.

On the plus side, Unibet has a great live betting experience. Live match-ups are prominently displayed on the top of their homepage and app. It’s something they’re proud to show off and with good reason. Live game trackers and quickly updating odds make this a fantastic live experience.

Unfortunately, there is no live streaming option in the US at the moment. Given that this is a feature Unibet has in other markets and many US competitors (like Bet365 and PointsBet) are exploring, we hope that Unibet will look into adding this feature in the future.
