Brendan Sorsby Supplemental Draft Team Odds
The NFL Supplemental Draft doesn't happen every year, and players are rarely actually selected. However, the announcement of Brendan Sorsby entering his name has stirred up speculation of where he may land.
Local judges ruled that Sorsby would be eligible to compete again in college football after a gambling scandal, but immense outside pressure has pushed the Texas Tech quarterback to leave early for the NFL.
No quarterback has been selected in the Supplemental Draft since 2011, but there is a good chance that streak ends with Sorsby.
There are certainly NFL teams that could be willing to submit a bid on Sorsby, so we decided to take a look at the top 5 landing spots according to Kalshi.
New York Jets
The New York Jets have been searching for a franchise quarterback for as long as I've been alive, so it makes sense that they currently have the highest percent chance to draft Brendan Sorsby.
Heading into the season with Geno Smith as their starter suggests the Jets aren't expecting to contend right away and could find themselves picking near the top of next year's draft.
While they did spend a fourth-round pick on Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, that shouldn't stop them from continuing to explore other options. If the season goes the way many expect, New York will likely want to evaluate multiple young quarterbacks before deciding whether to use a premium draft pick on the position.
The Jets have already assembled a talented core of young skill players. Now the focus shifts to finding the right quarterback to lead them, and that means keeping as many options on the table as possible.
Cincinatti Bengals
While the Bengals have their franchise QB, the backup spot is looking rough. It's an important backup role as well, considering Joe Burrow has struggled to stay healthy for his whole career. Currently, 41-year-old Joe Flacco owns the backup role, followed by Sean Clifford.
Sorsby could use some time to adjust before getting a shot at a starting job in the NFL, so sitting behind a top-5 quarterback and one of the oldest quarterbacks in the league would greatly benefit his development.
The Bengals should look to increase depth in the QB room before this season, rather than waiting until the 2027 NFL Draft. That makes them a top contender to submit a bid for Sorsby this summer.
Arizona Cardinals
Arizona may have drafted Carson Beck this year, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're done adding quarterbacks. Jacoby Brissett's contract holdout has already created some uncertainty on the depth chart, and the Cardinals could use another developmental option in the room.
The reality is that expectations aren't particularly high in Arizona this season. Beck is an unproven rookie, and the roster isn't strong enough to compete this season. That makes the Cardinals one of the few teams that can afford to take a chance on a player like Brendan Sorsby.
The Cardinals will have plenty of opportunities to evaluate young quarterbacks this season. Adding Sorsby through the Supplemental Draft would give them another lottery ticket at the position before spending a premium pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are already dealing with a battle of mid with Kyler Murray and JJ McCarthy competing for the starting QB role, so why not add one more to the mix?
Not that Brendan Sorsby would be competing for the starting role, but the Vikings should look to find a long-term backup. Whoever loses the battle between Murray and McCarthy is unlikely to want to stick around. There have already been multiple awkward quotes from McCarthy concerning his relationship with Murray, so a trade could be incoming if "nine" doesn't start the season.
Kevin O'Connell is known as a quarterback whisperer, so Minnesota is quietly a great option for Sorsby.
Miami Dolphins
This is probably my favorite sleeper pick of the possible candidates. The Miami Dolphins elected not to use any of their 13 picks of the 2026 NFL draft on a quarterback.
They also have an extremely unproven quarterback room. The Dolphins may have handed Malik Willis a 3-year, $67M contract, but the former 3rd round pick has yet to truly break out in the NFL. 2nd-year backup QB Quinn Ewers struggled in his limited time as the starting quarterback for the Dolphins, and doesn't have much of a ceiling.
Sorsby could be a great low-cost option to beef up the quarterback room, and immediately compete for the backup spot behind Willis. The Dolphins are likely going through a rebuild and don't have much to lose.
