How does it work? BetMGM NFL BetDefense works like most bet insurance promotions, giving users their stake back if the player they placed a prop bet on gets injured in the first quarter and doesn't return to the game. The best part? BetMGM doesn't have a cap on their BetDefense currently, so you'll get your full stake back no matter how high your bet was.
NFL BetDefense only applies to single-game bets, so don't expect to receive your stake back if you bet on a parlay across multiple games. But as long as you follow the instructions on this page, no first-quarter injury will cost you a lost wager on BetMGM sportsbook.
Here's how BetMGM's NFL BetDefense works:
- Place an eligible pro football player prop bet
- If your player leaves the game due to injury in the first quarter, and is officially ruled out for the remainder of the game, BetDefense is activated
- For straight bets, BetMGM will cancel the affected wager and return your stake within 72 hours upon settlement of the market
- For parlays and SGPs, BetMGM will cancel the affected leg and recalculate the remaining active legs of the parlay
- BetMGM BetDefense only applies to eligible player props that are conditioned upon positive performance by the player. "Under" wagers will be settled as winning wagers.
- BetDefense applies to NFL single-game wagers only.
- "Under" markets and "weekly special" wagers will be ineligible for BetDefense.
- Your wager must be accepted before the end of the first quarter to be eligible.
Additional Terms & Conditions
BetMGM Bet Defense applies to NFL single-game wagers only and follows all other Football House Rules.
If an NFL Player exits a game during the first quarter due to an official injury and does not return, affected wagers will be cancelled under BetMGM Bet Defense. Upon an official designation denoting that the player is “out” and will not return to the game due to injury, the wager will be cancelled, and original stake will be returned to the patron in its original form within 72 hours upon settlement of the market. If the player returns to the game, they are no longer eligible for BetMGM Bet Defense.
BetMGM Bet Defense only applies to eligible player propositions that are conditioned upon positive performance by the player (e.g. Player X Over 250 Passing Yards). “Under” or Fewer wagers will be settled as winning wagers. BetMGM reserves the right to determine which wagers are considered eligible player propositions affected by BetMGM Bet Defense. Wagers that have already been unconditionally determined before the player leaves the game will be settled as normal.
BetMGM Bet Defense eligible wagers will have an icon in the patron’s betslip denoting their eligibility for Bet Defense.
BetMGM Bet Defense is only available for eligible wagers made on a single NFL regular season or NFL playoff game accepted by BetMGM prior to the end of the first quarter. BetMGM Bet Defense does not include weekly special wagers.
BetMGM Bet Defense: Parlay Wagers and Same Game Parlay Wagers
In the event of an eligible exit from a game due to injury, BetMGM Bet Defense affected wagers in a parlay wager will be cancelled. Upon cancellation, the remaining legs of the parlay wager remain active and are recalculated as if the affected leg was not initially included. If all remaining legs of the recalculated parlay wager win, the entire wager will win at the recalculated odds. If any remaining leg loses, the entire bet settles as a loss.
BetMGM Bet Defense: Profit Boosts/Bonus Bets
In the event of an eligible exit from a game due to injury, BetMGM Bet Defense affected wagers utilizing profit boosts or bonus bets will be cancelled. The profit boost or bonus bet original stake will be returned to the patron within 72 hours of settlement of the market.
