ESPN BET Overtime Protection: What Is It?

New for the 2025-26 NFL Season, ESPN BET is offering an Overtime Protection promotion for NFL bettors.

What is it?

ESPN BET's Overtime Protection offers insurance for ESPN BET users who make wagers on the moneyline of NFL games. If you bet on team to win straight-up and they lose the game in overtime, ESPN BET will return 100% of your wager to you in the form of bonus bets, with a maximum return of $1,000.

One of the best features of this promotion: There is no limit to the number of bonus bets you can receive this NFL season, so if you're unlucky enough to lose multiple moneyline bets in overtime, you'll receive bonus bets in your account each time it occurs.

No Opt-In Required

Heads up! There is no opt-in required to take advantage of ESPN BET's Overtime Protection. While most sportsbook promos require users to opt in to the offer in order to use it, ESPN BET applies Overtime Protection guidelines to anyone who loses a bet on a moneyline that went to overtime.

ESPN BET Overtime Protection: How It Works

How does the ESPN BET Overtime Protection promo work? It's simple. Anytime you bet on an NFL team to win before the game starts, provided that you bet with real money from your account and not bonus bets, you'll receive your wager back into your account in the form of bonus bets if your team loses in overtime.

Keep in mind that this promotion is for moneyline bets only, not wagers against the spread.

This eliminates one of the worst experiences some sports fans have with sports betting. If you bet on a team to win and they're tied after regulation, losing your bet in overtime can be excruciating. But with ESPN BET's Overtime Protection, you've got a pretty good safety net if your team loses in OT.
