Battle for the Cup
The 2026 Stanley Cup Final begins on June 2, with the Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights beginning a seven-game series to decide who wins it all. While Vegas is vying for their second Stanley Cup since just 2023, the Hurricanes are looking to bring the trophy back to Carolina for the first time in 20 seasons. And luckily for 'Canes fans, they're the favorite to win it all leading up to Game 1.
Breaking Down the Matchup
While both the Hurricanes and Golden Knights began the Stanley Cup Playoffs as No. 1 seeds, their odds on Kalshi and other prediction markets have had far different evolutions throughout the postseason.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the Hurricanes were second in all of hockey in points scored behind only the Colorado Avalanche. Their 113 points was enough to earn them the one-seed in the Metropolitan division en route to 14.9% odds to win the Stanley Cup Final outright.
Meanwhile, the Golden Knights won their division too, claiming the Pacific with just 95 total points. They entered the postseason with 7% odds to win the Final, not quite half the odds their opponent received entering the tournament.
Still, it was the Golden Knights who swept the NHL's top team in the Avalanche to earn their second championship appearance in four seasons, while the Hurricanes earned their berth by beating the Canadiens in five.
For the first time since 2024, the Florida Panthers will not be the Stanley Cup Champion. Who will it be, the Hurricanes or Golden Knights? We're about to find out.
