For the first time since 2017, Tom Cruise is starring in a narrative feature that isn't a part of the Mission: Impossible or Top Gun franchises. Cruise stars as Digger Rockwell in Digger alongside an incredible cast that also includes John Goodman, Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons and more.
And while conventional wisdom would suggest that Digger is a movie that critics will love, it has actually received mixed reviews since it debuted in September. Like director Alejandro G. Iñárritu's Birdman, the Best Picture winner in 2015, Digger is an ambitious dark comedy with dramatic elements. The plotline is quite topical: Cruise's character is the most powerful man in the world who must prove he's humanity's savior by preventing a disaster that he himself created.
Over $1 million has already been traded on Digger's Rotten Tomatoes score on Kalshi, with most people trading on mid-range scores from 45-55.

This market works a little differently than a typical sports prediction market because there isn't just one winning outcome. If Digger finishes with a 68% Rotten Tomatoes score, every "Above" market from Above 20 through Above 65 would settle as YES, while Above 70 or higher would settle as NO.
Kalshi uses the official Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer score on the Monday after the movie's wide release, so it will settle at 10:00 a.m. ET, Oct. 5. One thing to remember is that the score must be above the listed number, so a score of exactly 75% would not cash an Above 75 contract.
The main thing that makes Digger particularly difficult to pin down in a Rotten Tomatoes score prediction is the history of decorated filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu, whose films vary wildly in the eyes of critics. His first feature Amores Perros earned a 93% score in 2000 and Birdman scored 91% with critics; on the other hand, his most recent film Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths scored just 60%, and other films like Biutiful and Babel both scored under 70%.
