LeBron's Next Team: Where to Bet on the Outcome
It's official: LeBron James will not be playing for the Los Angeles Lakers next season. Per ESPN's Shams Charania, LeBron "informed the Lakers that the franchise can move on without him because he will play elsewhere."
For prediction market users, that opens up what is sure to be one of the most popular trade markets this offseason. Will LeBron go back home to Cleveland for his 24th season? Is there mutual interest between James and the Warriors? "The Decision" part three is upon us, and we're here to show you where you can bet on the outcome.
There are currently three prediction markets offering trades on LeBron James' next NBA team:
- Kalshi
- Polymarket
- Robinhood
So, which prediction market should you use to bet on LeBron's next team?
In the initial hours following Shams' reporting that LeBron will be leaving the Lakers, Kalshi and Robinhood offered the exact same odds, adjusting their prices upward for teams like Golden State and Cleveland at the same rate. While the two prediction markets do have their own market data, they share a federally regulated exchange, KalshiEX, so their prices often reflect one another's.
Robinhood, on the other hand, has had far different odds out of the gate due to a lower liquidity in the US. This hasn't initially benefitted traders, as less likely landing spots like Chicago and Brooklyn have gained traction without lowering the price on the favorites.
As a result, we'd recommend Kalshi as your go-to prediction market for trading on LeBron's next team. Here's how the odds look on Kalshi right now:
If you're interested in betting on LeBron's next team, we'd recommend one of two approaches:
- Download the Kalshi app — if you're a first-time user, they'll give you $10 to make your first trade. You can use this to make a trade on where you think LeBron will land.
- Slow-play it — keep an eye on NBA reporting over the next few weeks to see if any dark-horse teams emerge that could be in play for King James. Then, you can either place a small wager on an underdog or trade on the favorite to make a few easy bucks.
