When Will GTA VI Online Drop? Odds Point to 2027

The wait for GTA VI is nearly over, but the wait for its online mode could stretch well beyond the new year.

Like past Rockstar releases, the newest iteration of the Grand Theft Auto franchise will launch its single-player mode on November 19th, with its multiplayer mode releasing later. 

But there is no confirmation of when GTA VI will be available, with only a month left until the single-player's release.

Kalshi's traders are currently projecting this will drag on as long as next summer, if not beyond.

The market points toward 2027, but there is a considerable difference between expecting multiplayer next year and expecting it early next year.

At 62%, a release before July is the more likely outcome. Still, that leaves plenty of room for the wait to stretch into the second half of 2027 or beyond. Anyone treating an early-year launch as a given is getting ahead of the available information.

The greatest piece of evidence comes from a Bloomberg interview with Twitch CEO Dan Clancy in September.

Discussing GTA 6’s impact on Twitch, he predicted an “even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer,” referring to the expected increase in viewers.

Clancy also said Twitch had been discussing Rockstar’s plans directly with the developer. That gives his comments more weight than the usual release-date speculation, although it remains unclear whether he was sharing a planned window or his own expectation.

That supports the market’s preference for 2027, but it doesn't help to determine when during the year multiplayer might arrive. The 62% chance of a release before July is a more specific bet than anything Clancy’s comments establish.

We’d be comfortable treating 2027 as the leading possibility. An early-year launch still needs more evidence.

There is precedent for a relatively quick turnaround. GTA Online launched two weeks after GTA V in 2013, while Red Dead Online began its beta rollout roughly a month after Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.

Either gap would leave enough time for multiplayer to arrive this year, although the November 19th release date leaves a slim window before the end of the year. 

A separate launch in and of itself isn’t a particularly strong reason to rule out 2026, although Rockstar's increasingly long development turnarounds don't bode well.

The market gives that scenario only a 13% chance. With Clancy pointing toward next year and no official multiplayer date announced, expecting Rockstar to repeat its turnaround times from previous generations feels generous.

For now, the first half of 2027 looks like a reasonable expectation. We’d lean that way too, but wouldn’t confidently narrow the window until Rockstar gives us a bit more to work with.
